Client Highlight ~ Sweetgreen

I’m happy to highlight another long-running client that has been really great to work for, Sweetgreen. If you’ve ever been to one of their stores (and I hope you have, the food is seriously delicious), you may have noticed a large chalkboard listing their ingredients and what farms they come from. You may not have noticed - according to some customers I’ve chatted with while working - that those chalkboards are updated every season. Sweetgreen changes their menu multiple times per year to feature produce that’s in season, and often they’re able to source it locally. As a national chain, I find that very impressive! I also appreciate how many of their ingredients are organic.

Another thing that I really love is that instead of printing these lists out or displaying them on a screen, they actually hire local lettering artists in each region to design and draw these chalkboards. It’s so cool that the designs vary across the country.

In 2019 I started with two stores, one in Berkeley and one in SoMa. This year, with the addition of a new store later this month, I update all 13 stores in the Bay Area. It really is a fun job, getting to visit every store, travel around the Bay, and chat with super sweet customers and employees.

A few years ago, I even got to design and install some art on the back of the chalkboard hanging in the SoMa store, facing the street. This one was especially fun!

All this to say, having Sweetgreen as an ongoing client these past years has been really great, and I look forward to creating a lot more chalkboard art for them in the future!
