“Oakland is Creative” for Creative Mornings

Another flashback this week to a design I made for Creative Mornings Oakland! If you haven’t been to an event, Creative Mornings is a volunteer-run organization that hosts free breakfast talks in cities around the country. It’s a great way to hear thoughtful speakers and meet other local creatives. Our own Annie Wong aka Headexplodie gave a Creative Mornings talk that was amazing!

We love a nice monoline!

I made this design for the Oakland chapter to help them celebrate their 4th birthday. The talk at the birthday event was excellent, given by Ashara Ekundayo. The design was used on the cover of Scout Books that were free for attendees and contained drawings by local artists as well as blank pages for sketches and notes.

It was also eventually used for mugs and tshirts (I would take a photo of mine but it’s well-worn at this point!). I had a lot of fun making this for such a great, community-focused organization.

On a mug!

This was also in my After Effects days, so I went a little overboard and animated it just for fun :)

Got a little extra and animated the design for the event.

It was a joy to see this design used and worn by so many people in the community. I look forward to doing more work for local organizations like this one!
