Hand-Painted Signs for Luke’s Local on Green Street

I’ve worked with Luke’s Local a few times over the years, and it’s always a pleasure. I’m always thrilled to see signs I’ve painted around town, and these really accentuate the comfy neighborhood store vibe of the Green Street location.

This corner location has awnings all around the outside, so they wanted to hang signs beneath them. They have a great wood guy (if you ever read this - I’m sorry I forgot your name!) who did an amazing job preparing the wood for me, and their designer did all of the text and color design. My job was to paint!

There were two modular boards - a flat, hanging sign for inside and an A-frame sign for the sidewalk outside - that had removable slats listing each sandwich on offer. There was also a large hanging sign for the meat+seafood counter detailing how they source their products.

The awning signs were a treat to paint - mixing custom colors is always a fun challenge, taking me back to color theory class in my art school days, and the big letters in different styles were really fun to paint.

Such great colors for the awning signs!

After the store opened, I happened to be in the neighborhood and picked up a sandwich - and it was delicious! Look for them if you’re ever in North Beach!
