Hi, my name is Emily and I love letters.
Sure, I was one of those kids that always loved to draw, like most professional artists. But I was also interested in letterforms from a young age - I asked my parents to buy me a how-to calligraphy book that came with broad-nib pens, and I would endlessly doodle variations on logo designs for my favorite bands in my sketchbooks. Later on, I taught myself pointed pen calligraphy and brush lettering and my full-on love affair with custom lettering began.
I hold an MFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. When I'm not buried in a pile of papers and brush pens at my desk (you think I'm kidding), I like to sew, bake, and kick butt with my dragon boat team. I also love dogs, like, more than humans sometimes. But seriously:
